The Feng Shui of doors

Doors, especially the main door, play a very important role in Feng Shui. They are the passage of "qi" (气), and viewed as the "mouth" (口) of the room.

If there is a large empty compound in front of the house, such as a car park, it is best to have the main door located at the center in front of the house. Main door at the center is called the door of Vermilion Bird (朱雀门).

If there is no large empty space in front of the house, and it is located along a street or corridor, if the path at the right is longer than the left, the main door is best located at the left. If the house is located at a slope, and the land on the right is higher than the left, the main door is also best located at the left. This is because water flows from higher place to lower. Main door at the left is called the door of Green Dragon (青龙门).

If the path in front of the house at the left is longer than the right, the main door is best located at the right. If the house is located at a slope, and the land on the left is higher than the right, the main door is also best located at the right. This is because water flows from higher place to lower. Main door at the right is called the door of White Tiger (白虎门).
